Wave offers a special software version for independent design consultants. This version enables the user/client to capture a image, load Wave, enter the Rx, pick a lens type and send the package to a consultant for design and ordering.
The Wave Express software platform is intended to help practitioners communicate and network together as part of the clinical care of patients. Those who have acquired the skills needed to design lenses, can now easily offer their professional consultation and design services to any other practitioner anywhere in the world who provides the appropriate topography service and has internet capability. Those who want to offer Wave lens designs to their patients, but don't want to design themselves, will have the ability to access the skills needed by networking with experienced practitioners and acquiring the professional service of a skilled Wave contact lens designer.
Wave does not charge any fee for the routing service, or create any additional financial burden on either the prescribing account or the consultant designer. Those who have mastered the skills needed to design lenses, can benefit by having access to a larger market for their professional services.
Second, by providing the current community of Wave users this case routing system, we hope to create an environment that allows those who have the skill, the opportunity to market their professional abilities to their professional colleagues. Wave is not a lens. Wave is a professional service.
When Version 7.15 is started, the entry screen will appear as shown in the first image. Selecting the Wave Express option places the software in consultant mode.
Once the default lens is created the user enters the refractive error. They next select one of three design options enter text describing the desired clinical goals .

The processing center in Jacksonville will route the order to the designated consultant. When the consultant opens the file, the Wave Express format is recognized, and the entry screen tells the consultant the account name and account number and the requested type of design.
The consultant can then design the lens and place the order for the originating account.
